Marcel Brion ( fr. Marcel Brion ; 21. listopadu 1895, Marseille – 23. října 1984, Paříž ) – francouzský esejista , literární kritik , spisovatel a historik.
Životopis
Narodil se v rodině právníka. Na lyceu byli jeho spolužáky Marcel Pagnol a Albert Cohen . Po ukončení středoškolského vzdělání na Collège Champitte ve Švýcarsku studoval práva na univerzitě v Aix-en-Provence .
V letech 1920 až 1924 působil jako advokát v Marseille; poté opustil právnickou dráhu a věnoval se literatuře.
Marcel Brion byl dvacet let ředitelem sekce zahraniční literatury francouzského deníku Le Monde v Paříži. Pomohl slavným evropským autorům jako Rainer Maria Rilke , James Joyce nebo Dino Buzzati přiblížit se francouzskému publiku. Marcel Schneider o něm napsal: „Marcel Brion byl Evropanem až do morku kostí […]. Znal sedm hlavních jazyků, kterými se mluví na Západě, a tyto znalosti využil k objevování talentů."
S ohledem na jeho dějiny umění se Brion zvláště zajímal o umění italské renesance : Botticelliho , Giotta , Michelangela a Leonarda da Vinciho .
